Six years ago in April my mother passed away.
Being the only daughter, I inherited her jewelry.

This "jewelry Christmas tree on velvet" hangs in my dining room
and every day when i see it, I think of my mother...
....and I am reminded daily how blessed I was to be raised by her.
I did a jeweled Christmas tree with my maternal grandmother's costume jewelry. It's in Eliza's house now. It was over 35 years ago that I made the tree - Ida Smith helped me - but my biggest takeaway was the knowledge that all the "jewels" I thought my grandmother wore were not valuable gems - as I had thought! I still love her and love her jewelry - and she never pretended they were real - I just assumed she wore real sapphires and emeralds and rubies!!
ReplyDeleteI saw my first jeweled tree at Ruby Gaebel's house. I loved it!
